It’s hard to know what to think about the recommendations for alcohol consumption when the narrative around it changes like the wind. Numerous studies have come out in support of moderate alcohol consumption because of its potential health benefits only to be countered by similar studies arguing that it’s actually more harmful than beneficial, according […] […]
The study, published online in JAMA Internal Medicine by Dylan A. Lowe, PhD, also of UCSF, involved 116 participants who were randomized to a 12-week regimen of either three structured meals per day or time-restricted eating, with instructions to eat only between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm and to completely abstain from eating at other times. “How did you make this?” The last time I wrote about zucchini was back in 2019 when the same question was asked (probably by the same friend) which motivated me to write down how I make Zucchini, Corn & Red Pepper. This super simple recipe is the perfect side vegetable when you have your grill fired […]
How much exercise are we doing in this new year?
My walking routine needs improvement. I was getting out 2-3x week before I stubbed my toe. Resistance and light free weight work dropped from 1-2x week down to…zero. I just got plain lazy. For the new year my plan is get back to walking 2-3x and weights/resistance 2-3x a week. My plan was to rejoin the Y but there’s too much virus out there now so I’m holding off.
A lot of my friends like using those resistance bands. I have never tried them. I have some dumbbells at home. And I walk every morning. For me the key is habit and routine, so I’m doing stuff without having to think about excuses why not to do it.
One of the kids left a nice resistance band at the house which sat in the garage for years. After I quit my Y membership in Pandemic year one I started using the band. I like the resistance band. We also have dumbbells in the house. The heaviest dumbbell is me who continually comes up with excuses not to exercise.
I think the biggest obstacle to exercise is getting started. LOL
That’s me!
