Conclusions: In this prospective cohort of women, higher plasma concentrations and dietary magnesium intakes were associated with lower risks of SCD. If the observed association is causal, interventions directed at increasing dietary or plasma magnesium might lower the risk of SCD.

FDA announced a possible association between saline and silicone gel-filled breast implants and anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), a very rare type of cancer. Data reviewed by the FDA suggest that patients with breast implants may have a very small but significant risk of ALCL in the scar capsule adjacent to the implant.

Among the more than 300,000 participants in the study, those who consumed eight or more portions of fruit and vegetables each day had a reduction of 22% in their risk of fatal ischemic heart disease (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.65 to 0.95) compared with those who ate fewer than three portions, according to Francesca L. Crowe, PhD, of the University of Oxford in England, and colleagues.
