NIHSeniorHealth: Alcohol Use and Older Adults – Table of contents
This is a nice little informational website from the NIH. The first video features a 77 year young woman who developed alcoholism late in life after a lung cancer diagnosis. She got up to a liter of wine daily when it became a problem.

“The occurrence of a transient ischemic attack (TIA) doubles a person’s risk for a subsequent myocardial infarction, a population-based study found.”

In Men, Duration of Diabetes Linked to Raised Heart Risk
“Risk rose along with duration of disease — compared to men without diabetes, men who had early-onset diabetes (in this case, for an average of 17 years or more) had 2.5 times the risk of a heart attack. That level of risk was equal to that of men with a prior history of heart attack, the team noted.”

“In this study of children ages 8 to 13, epilepsy was a risk factor for developing psychiatric symptoms and was a much stronger risk factor in girls than in boys. A number of other independent risk factors were also identified.”

I got an email today from a recruiter and thought I’d pass it along. What’s unusual about this opening?

I’m not diabetic but I have a strong family history of the disease so I try to eat like a diabetic.
