This report summarizes the results of that analysis, which indicated that the overall prevalence of alcohol intoxication (i.e., blood alcohol concentration [BAC] at or above the legal limit of 0.08 g/dL) was nearly 24% among suicide decedents tested for alcohol, with the highest percentage occurring among American Indian/Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) (37%), followed by Hispanics (29%) and persons aged 20–49 years (28%).
Affordable Lap Band Surgery in Mexico – MedToGo
I was doing some morality research on Lap Band surgery and stumbled across this website. Due to the proximity of Mexico, surgical procedures have to be cheaper than India or Thailand.
Maybe we should start asking application questions like:
“Within the past five years have you had, or are you considering having, any form of surgery outside of the United States?”
Because competing causes of mortality often outweigh the potential benefit from detecting colon cancer at progressively older ages, guidelines do not recommend screening past age 75 and recommend against it after 85.

Heart Minute: Red Yeast Rice Decreases LDL
Watch this video if you only have a minute to learn about red yeast rice. This is the same study cited in an earlier post on red yeast rice.
New-onset AF was associated with an 80% higher risk of 90-day mortality.
This is a very small study involving just 62 patients with elevated cholesterol levels. The results however, are promising with an average decrease in LDL levels of 35mg/dl versus patients receiving a placebo.
