Over 60% of the people surveyed believed sea salt was healthier than stable salt.

Over 75% of the people surveyed knew wine was good for the heart but only 30% knew the recommended limits on intake.

Just remember – less is more.

Medical News: Fruit, Veggies Cut Risk of IHD in Large Study – in Cardiovascular, Prevention from MedPage Today

Among the more than 300,000 participants in the study, those who consumed eight or more portions of fruit and vegetables each day had a reduction of 22% in their risk of fatal ischemic heart disease (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.65 to 0.95) compared with those who ate fewer than three portions, according to Francesca L. Crowe, PhD, of the University of Oxford in England, and colleagues.

Obesity May Interfere With Vitamin D Absorption

The study found an inverse relationship between excess pounds and an insufficient amount of vitamin D, which is critical to cell health, calcium absorption and proper immune function. Vitamin D deficiency can raise the risk for bone deterioration and certain types of cancer.

The researchers also suggest that overweight and obese people may have problems processing the vitamin properly.
