Weds 3/22 The Anti-Bunko meeting last night was a rousing success. Seven showed up and five of us ordered zero sides. Two ordered tots with their burgers. I guess it takes some people a longer time to learn why their jeans no longer fit. I’m not sure if it was last night’s burger or busyness […]
Retrain yourself to recognize feelings of hunger and respect them. Eat when you feel them and stop when they stop. Don’t eat when you’re not hungry. This approach starts with eating breakfast, planning snacks, or eating only part of your lunch and saving the rest for a snack later on in the afternoon. Eat regular […]
Are healthy habits worth cultivating? One recent study and a previous similar study suggest healthy habits may help people tack on years of life and sidestep serious illnesses, such as diabetes and cancer. Researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that five low-risk lifestyle habits are critical for a longer life expectancy. The more of […] […]
Tuesday 3/21 Well, it was a good plan until it wasn’t. No boneless chicken thighs at the store, the bone-in thighs I bought need to be frozen and I refuse to drive around town looking for chicken thighs. Tonight is a night out with the guys so there will be no cooking tonight. Several of […]
Monday 3/20 A faithful reader of my blogs mentioned a 7 day meal plan would be nice to have. Initially I thought that was a good idea. But when I sat down to create a 7 day meal plan I realized I never know what I’m making to eat until I see what looks good […]
That’s very interesting. I had a tetanus shot within the past three years. But I have never had an MMR shot, since I have already had measles and rubella. Never had mumps. Have you seen anywhere that it is actually recommended to receive an MMR shot? I can’t imagine the great unwashed being willing to get a shot that’s not even intended for Covid when they won’t get the actual shot that is designed to fight Covid.
The CDC recommends people who are born during or after 1957 who do not have evidence of immunity against measles should get at least one dose of MMR vaccine. My wife and I actually got booster MMR shots before we came into contact with the first grand-baby. This study will change nothing for the great unwashed. But it sure is interesting.
I was born before 1957. And I actually remember having measles. It was dreadful.
Did you get booster pertussis shots as well?
Yes TDAP too.
For the I immunocompromised booster, have you read whether it’s better to receive the same kind of vaccine you got for the first doses or go with a different mRNA vaccine?
I received Pfizer initially, and I’m debating whether to go with Moderna or Pfizer for the booster.
With an overnight sleep I began to question my recollection on my booster shot pre-grandbaby visit. So I checked with the keeper of household shared memory and she confirmed we both had a TDAP booster NOT the MMR. I stand corrected.
I’ve seen headlines but haven’t delved into any articles on Covid boosters. It will be hard initially to filter out the hype. I’ll keep my eyes open on this topic.
I’m planning to get a COVID booster shot in the next couple weeks, since I have several of the conditions that put me in the immunocompromised category. I am trying to decide whether to go with a third Pfizer or switch it up and get a Moderna.
I figured it was probably TDAP. That’s what the pediatricians are recommending for the grandparents.
It’s a good thing I forget about my memory lapses otherwise they would annoy me.
What memory lapses?
Typical aging memory issues. My last response was a joke. Where did I put my phone? Those types of age related memory issues. On a serious note I still feel mentally sharp.
Here’s your booster information from Yale.

I have those aging memory issues too. They are annoying. But I still think I’m mostly mentally sharp. Thanks for the booster info!
Conversations like ours on the blog will keep us both sharp!
