“I think the junior level is definitely finding it harder now to enter the workforce,” said John Romeo, who leads the consulting firm’s research arm, the Oliver Wyman Forum. “It’s those mid- and senior-level employees that CEOs are now looking at to drive productivity.” That’s because of the types of tasks that AI agents are able to perform, from writing code at the level of a junior developer to evaluating sales leads. What the agents can’t do in many fields is make judgment calls using the insight that comes from on-the-job experience, according to labor experts. Yikes!
If you managed to scroll down this far here’s a bonus video.

How do they handle major of evils in the past like the industrial revolution? And then in the early 1900s with the introduction of electricity and railroad and automobiles I guess that created jobs with building all that stuff and then the national highway system. But will there be new jobs created because of AI if you had a child now, would you encourage them to go into a trade?
If I had a kid now I would still emphasize a college education and the trades, if they showed an interest and/or abilities to do skilled work. I would not recommend the tech sector and try to steer them into other types of knowledge work less threatened by AI. Just as in the Industrial Revolution many jobs will be eliminated while new jobs will be created.
Do you think the field of medicine is threatened at first I thought just the fields like internal medicine and pediatrics, but then I started thinking about robotic surgery and all the things robots can do…
Medicine is not threatened but certain specialties (Radiology, Pathology, etc) will see some impacts from AI use. A lot will depend upon how good the medical AI agents become in terms of accuracy.
I wonder if interventional Radiology will become a separate specialty
I thought Interventional Radiology was already a separate specialty but it’s a sub-specialty. Maybe a separate specialty once the AI agents for xrays and scans get better.
